Dr. Michael A. Miner is a Social Scientist and Research Methodologist focused on the interplay of inequality, institutions and technology.


He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee where he studied school segregation, public perceptions and research methodology. He also holds a M.A. in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and a B.A. in Psychology and Sociology from St. Joseph's College, Brooklyn. He specializes in quantitative methods, education, social media and technology.

His recent research examines how school accountability ratings are associated with school segregation, how they shape public perceptions of school quality and how they influence parents’ enrollment decisions.


Dr. Miner is a Social Scientist at Facebook, a Visiting Scholar at The New School, and an Affiliate Professor of Statistics at St. Joseph's College. He is on the Board of Directors for the Midwest Sociological Society and is a member of the Advisory Board for Social Problems. His publications and professional experience can be found on his CV.
